How to make a change
Sign In
Access your account using the email and password from your original application.
Select the Application
Find the approved ESTA you wish to modify and tap the 'Edit' option. Only approved applications show this option.
Update Eligible Fields
Make changes to allowed fields. Locked fields will be greyed out with an explanation.
Review and Confirm
Review your changes carefully before confirming. Once submitted, your updated information takes effect on your authorization.
Good to remember
Modifications do not extend the validity of your ESTA — your authorization keeps its original expiration date.
Always update your U.S. accommodation address before traveling if your plans have changed.
Group applications must be modified individually through each applicant's account.
Keep a record of any modifications for your travel documentation.
When you'll need a fresh application
If your changes involve passport information, your legal name, country of citizenship, or any eligibility questions, a modification is not possible. You must send a new application instead.
Common situations: a new passport, a legal name change (such as after marriage), changes in citizenship status, or changes to your original eligibility responses.
Timing tip
A new application takes the same time as the original. Send it well in advance to avoid travel delays.
